Background

Coastal Karnataka’s Tulunadu region carries a centuries-old legacy of artisan craftsmanship — generations of skilled jewellers, wood carvers, and metalworkers grounded in the Vishwakarma tradition. This community brings deep cultural authenticity and technical expertise in wide variety of artisanship, yet remains largely disconnected from the digital tools (CAD, 3D printing, CNC technology), design methodologies, and market channels now reshaping the global craft and jewellery industry.

At the same time, Mangaluru has emerged as a growing technology and startup hub, anchored by institutions such as the K-Tech Innovation Hub. Yet this technology ecosystem and the local artisan community have largely evolved in parallel, with few structured opportunities to connect the two.

Vishwakoushalam 2026 is conceived to close this divide. Organised by Vishwakarma Kala Parishath, Mangaluru in association with the K-Tech Innovation Hub, Vishwakoushalam 2026 is a three-day innovation and exhibition platform bringing together artisans, technology providers, designers, investors, and the public around a shared purpose: equipping traditional craftspeople with modern tools and market access to scale sustainably.

Rather than a transactional trade show, Vishwakoushalam 2026 positions Mangaluru as India’s emerging hub for artisan innovation — a catalyst for a sustained movement that helps craftspeople adopt enabling technologies, access mentorship and investor networks, and build thriving, market-ready ventures rooted in cultural heritage.

Primary Objectives

  1. Artisan Digital Transformation —  Enable artisans to adopt digital design tools like CAD advanced manufacturing technologies like 3D printing, CNC etc. and build scalable, market-ready ventures through technology and business mentorship.
  2. Market Access & Investment — Connect artisans directly with buyers, retailers, and investors; facilitate investment pathways and document 10+ success stories.
  3. Ecosystem Integration — Bridge artisans with technology providers, designers, and financial institutions; establish formal partnerships with K-Tech Hub and government bodies.
  4. Heritage Preservation — Strengthen traditional Vishwakarma craftsmanship through technology adoption while ensuring intergenerational knowledge transfer within artisan families.
  5. Replicable Model & National Leadership — Document Vishwakoushalam 2026 as a replicable framework; positioning Mangaluru as India’s artisan-technology convergence hub for other craft clusters to adopt.
